BLACKPINK’s Agency YG Entertainment Bans In-Person Fan Greetings At Company Following Safety Concerns
The fan meetings were a long-standing tradition at YG.

The YG Entertainment building, for decades, has been almost like a tourist spot for K-pop fans. The company, which is home to some of the most popular groups in the industry like BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER and BIGBANG, had a tradition where group members greeted fans outside the company’s headquarters in Hapjeong, Seoul. However, people were heartbroken to know that these beloved face-to-face greetings between fans and idols are coming to an end. Read on to know more.
What Did YG Entertainment Say In Its Statement
In a recent statement, YG Entertainment announced that they will no longer be allowing any face-to-face greetings or fan interactions outside the company building. This sudden decision came after the company was met with many complaints from residents living nearby who complained about the noise, congestion and safety concerns the fans waiting outside caused. No specific incident with any group was stated by YG Entertainment; however, their stance remained clear. Fan gatherings were becoming too disruptive to continue.
Groups like BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and AKMU have all stepped out to greet fans outside for years. The K-pop Idols often interacted and celebrated important milestones with fans like music show wins, debuts and comebacks. These spontaneous interactions not only allowed fans to meet their favourite idols but also for artists to interact with them on a personal level.
