On August 12, reports from Yonhap confirmed that the police had conducted two raids in YG Entertainment. The raids were a result of a case filed against G-Dragon and Yang Hyun Suk where they were accused of copying, reworking and releasing a song under name.
Plagiarism Accusations Against Yang Hyun Sik And G-Dragon
This controversy initially blew up in 2014 when a music composer filed a complaint against the two at Seoul’s Mapo Police Station. The composer claimed that he had written a song titled ‘G-Dragon’; however, it was taken without his permission and renamed ‘My Age is 13’. The song was later released in G-Dragon’s 2010 live album called Shine A Light. According to the complaint, the music composer said that YG Entertainment did not just steal his song but also reworked it to sound original by mixing it with other songs.
According to the authorities, they have carried out two raids, one at YG Entertainment’s headquarters in Seoul, and have also questioned multiple staff during their investigation. While they declined to provide more information on the case, they confirmed the current CEO, Yang Min Suk (Yang Hyun Suk’s younger brother), and Choi Sung Jun, head of YG Plus (a YG subsidiary), were included in the complaint.
YG Entertainment’s Response
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment’s spokesperson dismissed the accusations as a misunderstanding, claiming there were simply two different songs with the same title during preparations for G-Dragon’s 2009 solo concert. Police authorities have mentioned in their statement that the investigation is currently ongoing.

His name emerged after a police crackdown on illegal drugs that also involved late Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun. On December 19, 2023, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency concluded the investigation, and G-Dragon was not charged. After clearing his name, G-Dragon has since released a new album and is currently on tour.
