Slamming the Made In Heaven makers for their “hostile statement” calling her demand for acknowledgement misleading, Yashica Dutt revealed that co-writer of the show Alankrita Shrivastava held a 5 hours long meeting with her in July 2022 and asked her everything about her life. The author claimed that the show writer did not share her intentions behind the meeting. She further shared that she left the meeting guessing what it was all about and hoping to receive an email from Alankrita with an update which never came. However, a year later when Made In Heaven 2 was released, she found out that the writer and filmmaker had not only created a character based on her but had also used information from their conversation for the episode.

Launching another scathing attack on the makers of the Prime Video series, ‘Coming Out as Dalit’ author Yashica Dutt accused them of issuing a hostile and deintegrating statement that contradicts the statement issued by the director of episode 5 of Made In Heaven 2, Neeraj Ghaywan. She went on to claim that the makers of the show have pitted a Dalit against a Dalit as the Dalit director will have to take accountability for the episode that he only directed. She also called out Alankrita for taking her words and putting them on the screen.

What Did Anurag Kashyap Say?

During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said that he was very affected by the fact that Neeraj Ghaywan was cancelled on social media just when he started speaking up and making his voice heard. He further questioned if the matter of the Dalit wedding episode being inspired by Yashica Dutt is such a big issue or not. Calling it a debatable issue, the filmmaker accused the Dalit author of looking for validation and being an opportunist. He also questioned why she attacked the other person who claimed to have used the term (coming out) much before her.

FYI, writer Sumit Baudh had earlier mocked Yashica Dutt for attacking Made In Heaven 2 makers and accusing them of plagiarism whereas she herself had failed to credit his 2007 article which used the term ‘coming out as Dalit’ in her 2019 book.

In response, Yashica accused the writer of backstabbing her as she claimed that he was supportive of her when she levelled plagiarism accusations against the Made In Heaven 2 makers, only to attack her on social media later. She also questioned why he never asked to be credited for the term earlier despite knowing her and only spoke about it now. She claimed to have not read Sumit Baudh’s article before writing and publishing her book.

The Made In Heaven 2 Dalit wedding episode controversy just got more twisted.
