Japanese vocal group XG’s producer, JAKOPS (or Simon), was recently picked up in Japan on drug possession charges. This caused XG’s company and SIMON’s behaviour with staff to come under a lot of scrutiny. XG Producer JAKOPS Simon Staff Endured Verbal And Physical Abuse: Reports
JAKOPS, whose real name is Park Jun Ho, was recently held by local police in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture after a tip-off. When the Drug and Firearm Investigation Division ended up at his hotel, it discovered several bags of cocaine and dried cannabis. He was among four people to be arrested, supposedly, the others being songwriter Chancellor and AVEX staff members. AVEX is the parent company of XG’s label XGLAX.
Now, Bunshun has quoted a source saying that JAKOPS would use intimidation techniques such as banging tables and flinging bottles on the floor at staff. The source added that the producer has said, “Go die, are you kidding me?” to employees, while at other times cussing them out using offensive Korean insults.
Additionally, the former idol allegedly smacked staff on the head or kicked them on occasion. While Simon’s assault ended in apologies, it occurred frequently. As a result, more than 10 staff members had quit or requested to be reassigned over the past two years.
XG Expressed Concern About JAKOPS, Says Source To Japanese Media
XG’s fanbase has been worried about how the music producer’s arrest will affect the group. A source alleged to media sites that the group was made aware of the abuse staff were enduring. The members were afraid to lose their creator, but also concerned about how their group would proceed in the future. Apparently, Chisa, the oldest, led a discussion about the same with XG. They agreed to work harder “for the fans and everyone involved.”
