Recently, Japanese group XG’s executive producer, JAKOPS (or SIMON), was arrested for drug possession in Japan. He is not the first to be embroiled in such a controversy, but considering his huge influence over the group’s music, this received a lot of attention. This took place on February 23, 2026. More details of the charges and further arrests have come to light. Read all about it below.

XG Producer JAKOPS, Chancellor Arrested On Drug Possession Charges

Formerly a member of the group DLMTN, Simon Junho Park, aka JAKOPS, was supposedly picked up from a hotel in Aichi Prefecture on February 23, at 12.20 am. According to reports by Japanese media, the Japanese-Korean producer was apprehended with three unnamed persons.

A few hours earlier, on February 22, the Drug and Firearm Investigation Division dropped in on their hotel room after an alleged tip-off about illegal drug presence and usage. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested the four people after finding cocaine (four bags) and dried cannabis (one bag), reported media outlets in Japan. Allegedly, the individuals were charged with violating the Stimulant Control Act (joint possession).

Later the same day, Chancellor, a Korean-American singer, was identified as one of the individuals arrested on drug possession charges. The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Kim Jung-seung, was part of One Way. The other two people picked up are allegedly employees of XG’s parent group, AVEX. Notably, Chanellor is a recent father, whose child is just four months old.

XG’s agency XGLAX refrained from commenting, saying they were “verifying the situation.”

How Does It Affect XG?

Debuting with seven members in 2022, XG was catapulted to global stardom due to their unique sound and strong concept. In fact, the producers of XG are considered one of the biggest reasons for their success. With that in mind, these arrest charges are a serious concern.
