It’s World Mental Health Day 2025, but many people still avoid or feel shy talking about it. However, there are some K-pop idols who have opened up their stories with true courage. They discuss taking medication and visiting therapists, which helps a lot as they have a huge fanbase and influence. So, here are five such artists who have talked about their personal struggles. Five K-pop Idols Who’ve Talked About Mental Health Battles
BTS’s RM opened up about his tough time in the military during a livestream. The heavy stress caused deep insomnia and he felt drained and lifeless. This pushed him to visit a neuropsychiatrist for support. He further stated that he took medicine to cope with it and thankfully things are getting better step by step. Special mention: his songs touch on these ideas as well and bring peace to listeners through his words.
TWICE’s Jeongyeon stepped away from work in August 2021 to care for her mental health. Her company, JYP Entertainment, said it stemmed from bad anxiety and panic attacks. Everyone agreed to put her health first and give her much-needed time to get better.
Day6’s Jae had a frightening panic attack in 2020 while driving. As per reports, he used to push down his fears but things got worse. Then, he started taking medicine every day to calm his thoughts. He also talks about mental health and how bad it is to pretend to be happy all the time.
Seventeen’s S.Coups ran into big anxiety problems that kept him out of the Ode To You world tour. The signs were too much so he stepped away from group activities. He also talked about it in a series.
Singer and actor IU fought bulimia nervosa. It was a dangerous eating disorder which was caused by being worried about her weight. She talked about it in 2014 on SBS Healing Camp. The singer and actor explained how she got help for her anxiety and eating issue. She also talked about how much stress idols face.
