According to multiple media reports, Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s starrer, Peddi, is slated to arrive on Netflix. It is being said that the platform has secured the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights. However, having mentioned this, it’s worth noting that the official announcement of the film’s digital release is yet to be rolled out. The reports also mentioned that fans can expect to watch it on the said platform by July 16. Additionally, the film will likely be released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Why Did Peddi Garner Backlash?

After Peddi was released, a section of the audience called out the makers for the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character. Netizens highlighted how casually her character was reduced to being nothing but a s*xual object, providing no substance to the storyline. As per the report, the director of the said film, Buchi Babu Sana, reacted to the backlash and told Screen that he hadn’t anticipated that the scenes would be perceived so negatively by the audience. He further mentioned that they would be careful and make better representations. For the unversed, after the controversy erupted, the makers removed the problematic scenes from the film.
