Bollywood star Anushka Sharma's much-awaited project called Chakda Xpress, which is her biopic, might finally be released!
The Indian Women’s cricket team made the nation proud after they won their first World Cup. Amid the celebrations, legendary players Jhulan Goswami, along with Mithali Raj and Anjum Chopra, made headlines. And current reports suggest that after this historic win, Bollywood star Anushka Sharma’s much-awaited project called Chakda Xpress, which is her biopic, might finally be released. And now, the cricketer has also spoken on the same.
About Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress
During a chat with Hindustan Times, cricketer Jhulan Goswami was asked whether executives behind the making of her biopic had urged to release of the film after India’s historic win. Though the project was completed in 2022, it kept facing delays due to rights and distribution issues with the streaming platform Netflix. To this, Goswami said, “I am not aware of any such updates. Let’s hope for the best.”
As per a previous Mid-Day report, post the win of the Indian Cricket Team, the makers of Chakda Xpress wrote to the top executives of Netflix to release the film. A source told the portal that they had personally requested the streaming platform to rise above the conflict so that the film could finally see a release as a legend like Jhulan Di deserved to reach the audiences. The publication also said that the film had been stuck for years because the heads of the platform were not impressed with how the film turned out.
The production house had gone over-budget, with Netflix heads not even liking the outcome. But the source also claimed that the film was still a solid one. The rights of Chakda Xpress are currently with the platform, and the source added, “The recent victory has put the attention back on the biopic. Internal discussions at the streamer have started, and the team is expected to take a final pass this month to determine if it can be released after additional work.”
