Why Internet Is Slamming The Star-Studded Charity Gala Attended By BTS, Aespa, And More?

Charity events always make positive noise, since they support good causes. Yet, this Korean charity gathering with BTS members V, J-Hope, and RM, Aespa, TXT’s Soobin, I-DLe, and others has drawn heavy criticism. Internet users are extremely angry and are pointing fingers at the stars involved. Many wonder if it truly helped those in need. If you want to know what it is all about, then read on!

Here’s Why This Korean Charity Event Is Facing Backlash

After the videos from the event kept coming out, Korean netizens shared their reactions. Some of them said that the meaning and reason behind the event got lost as the entire attention was on celebrities dancing and singing out loud. They also noted that just one short video from the organisers shed light on the main topic. Netizens found it very upsetting.

But they became more angry when details about the money collected came out. Over twenty years, the yearly event has brought in very little cash for breast cancer help. Reports say it raised almost nothing specific for patients or research this time. Fans and health groups called it a missed chance. One user wrote, “genuinely curious bc this just looks like a party for celebrities but was any breast cancer awareness really done at the event? did ppl donate money? were professionals on the subject invited?.” Another user wrote, “Not one pink ribbon on sight, no comments on the main topic wich is allegedly “BREAST CANCER AWARNESS”, not even a single mention about patients or survivors. Pure performative charity and hypocrisy in fancy clothing.”

Furthermore, tensions increased when W Korea shared a clip of Aespa’s Karina joining a fun online dance trend on the song Sugar on my Tongue. They bashed her moves and outfit as well. Netizens stated that it turned heads away from the main goal.

Some people also shared stories of personal loss from the disease online. They also weren’t okay with everyone drinking, even though alcohol links to higher risks for the illness. Some people also slammed J Park’s performance at the event. They said it was tone-deaf.
