Why Global Girl Group KATSEYE Has The World Obsessed With Them
As someone who has followed them since the show, it's amazing to watch the world showering immense love on them.

From viral ads to jaw-dropping performances, it’s KATSEYE’s year as they are dominating the industry. Formed through the intense survival show The Debut: Dream Academy, the girl group’s crazy vibe and powerful energy have everyone in hold. As someone who has followed them since the show, it’s amazing to watch the world showering love on them. But, if you are wondering what all the hype is about? Here’s why this six-member crew, including Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae has everyone hooked and why their every move blows up on the internet.
That Star Power Vibe
HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si-hyuk once said in the Pop Star Academy: Katseye Netflix documentary that having star quality is more important than skill when picking trainees. Some fans dragged him for it, but let’s be real, it actually makes sense. KATSEYE’s members radiate this magnetic aura that makes you stop and stare. Whether they’re slaying on a stage or chilling on a livestream, you just can’t take your eyes off them.

Not Afraid Of Speaking Up
The group doesn’t hesitate or shy away from clapping back. With the members coming from the U.S., the Philippines, Switzerland, and South Korea, it has sparked a lot of chatter about their identities. For example, some questioned Manon’s Black heritage, but she shut it down with a witty Weverse post. She shared a picture and poked fun at the haters. This unapologetic vibe shows they’re not here to fit in your mould and we absolutely love it.

In a recent interview with 101.9 The MIX, the host asked KATSEYE about common misconceptions surrounding girl groups. They responded by addressing the false idea that the members are always at odds with each other. With this, they put an end to all the rumours about the members not getting along with each other.
KATSEYE when asked about a common misconception people have with girl groups:

Well, the members have faced shade for speaking their truth, but they stay unbothered serving looks and confidence. Whether it’s addressing misconceptions or pushing back against criticism, KATSEYE handles it like pros, and ladies, you have my and many people’s respect because we love the no-nonsense attitude.
Sisterhood Goals
KATSEYE’s bond is next-level, and they’re all about lifting each other up. To mark the one-year anniversary of Pop Star Academy, they dropped a visualiser for Mean Girls (Dream Academy Version) on YouTube, featuring all the show’s contestants. It was a wholesome moment that had EYEKONS emotional, seeing the girls celebrate their journey together. They also hype up other groups like LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT and show love and support.
Plus, Lara and Megan’s openness about being queer and bisexual, despite the judgement, makes them icons for authenticity and representation.

Sure, KATSEYE’s amazing vocals, killer choreography, and banger songs that add on to their immense popularity, but for me it’s the above factors (and also their Gen Z humour) that make them a group that’s impossible to ignore. Well, the party’s just getting started.
