Why Is ENHYPEN’s Jay Being Criticised For His Dance Moves? All You Need To Know

Popular girl gang KATSEYE returned with a bang with their recent song ‘Gnarly’ at the end of April 2025, and it received a mix of reactions from the fans. The hyper-pop track became a hot topic, as it is being criticized for its ‘unserious’ lyrics and alleged use of AI. But a dance challenge featuring Daniela and ENHYPEN’s Jay got him a bucketload of backlash too because of his ‘stiff’ moves.

ENHYPEN’s Jay Criticised

Many fans reacted positively to KATSEYE’s ‘Gnarly’ as it is their most recent release in the last several months. Like other comebacks, KATSEYE’s members started promoting their songs in interesting ways, which included collaborating with other stars. On May 1, they released a dance challenge with ENHYPEN’s Jay, which went viral on social media minutes after posting.

Many got excited to see two idols from a big group interact and dance with each other and even appreciated Daniela and Jay’s moves. But the other side of the internet wasn’t very pleased. They criticised Jay’s performance in the video and blamed his alleged ‘stiffness’ throughout it. The dance incorporates more “feminine” motions, and instead of going all out like Daniela, Jay executed a more restrained version, which disappointed fans.

On the other hand, many defended the idol, claiming that there was nothing wrong with his dancing and even pointing out that several male idols had been given alternative dance directions by choreographers. Many others also commented on the criticism that comes when idols collaborate, even when these interactions are requested.
