Did Ashish Chanchlani Step Down As Host Of Marvel’s Captain America Screening Due To India’s Got Latent Row? Here’s The Truth

YouTube sensation Ashish Chanchlani recently made headlines after announcing that he would no longer be hosting the special Valentine’s Day screening of Captain America: Brave New World in Mumbai. While Chanchlani cited health reasons for his withdrawal, the timing of his decision has sparked speculation, given his involvement in the ongoing India’s Got Latent controversy.

Ashish Chanchlani’s Announcement

On Instagram, Ashish informed his followers that he wouldn’t be able to attend the much-anticipated event due to ill health. In his post, he assured fans that the screening would proceed as planned for those who had been selected to attend. “Hello doston, I am not keeping well, so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend & host the screening… I know, I am gonna miss y’all so much! Love you 3000,” he wrote.

However, his decision comes at a time when Mumbai Police have charged him, along with Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), comedian Samay Raina, and others, for allegedly promoting obscenity on India’s Got Latent. This has led to speculation that his exit from the Marvel event could be linked to the controversy rather than just health concerns.

India’s Got Latent Controversy

The controversy erupted when Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate remark about incest during an episode of India’s Got Latent, which also featured Ashish, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and others. The joke, which quickly drew criticism online, led to a police case. Reports indicate that Mumbai Police have recorded statements from at least seven individuals, including Chanchlani, regarding the matter.

Adding to the legal trouble, the Assam Police have now issued fresh summons for Ranveer, Ashish, Apoorva, Jaspreet Singh, and others, following a complaint that the show was spreading obscene content. A senior Assam Police official confirmed that a team had been dispatched to Mumbai to further the investigation.

After facing backlash, Ranveer issued a public apology, admitting that his comment was a lapse in judgment. “I never intended to disrespect families or values. It was a mistake, and I take full responsibility for it,” he said in a video statement. He also assured his followers that he would be more mindful in the future.

Samay Raina, another key figure in the controversy, took an even more drastic step—removing all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube. “My intention was always to entertain. If any content has hurt people, I truly regret it. I am fully cooperating with the authorities,” he wrote in a statement.

Did the Controversy Influence Chanchlani’s Exit?

Despite claims of illness, the timing of Ashish Chanchlani’s withdrawal from the Marvel event remains questionable. While there is no official confirmation that his legal troubles influenced his decision, stepping away from a high-profile event at this moment could be seen as an attempt to avoid public scrutiny.
