Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sunjay Kapoor, passed away on Thursday, June 12, in England. The 53-year-old industrialist reportedly suffered a heart attack while playing polo and collapsed. Columnist Suhel Seth confirmed his death on X (Previously Twitter). Reports also suggest that he might have swallowed a bee during the game, which might have contributed to his death as well. Here’s all you need to know about the late businessman.

Who Was Sunjay Kapur?

Sunjay Kapur was a well-known businessman and the son of well-known industrialist Dr Surinder Kapur, founder of the Sona Group. Sunjay served as the chairman of Sona Comstar, a global technology company supplying critical systems and components for electric and conventional car manufacturers around the world. The late businessman was also the president of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA).

Beyond his professional achievements, Kapur was often in the headlines due to his personal life. Sunjay was first married to designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996, and the couple got divorced in 2000. He then married Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003, after which they got divorced in 2016. The duo shared two children- Samaira and Kiaan. He was often spotted spending time with his kids in Mumbai.

After their divorce, a former model and a businesswoman, Priya Sachdev. He also shared a son with her, Azarias. Hours after his death, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s vehicle was seen reaching Karisma Kapoor’s house. Kapur also sent prayers for the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash just before his death.
