Diego Borella, an assistant director on the sets of the popular Netflix show Emily In Paris has passed away while filming the fifth season in Venice. According to reports, the 47-year-old collapsed on Thursday, August 21, while filming the last episode of the season at Hotel Danieli. Many crew members saw him fall and paramedics were called immediately but could not save him, reports suggested. Here’s all about it.

As per Italian outlet La Repubblica, reported that the shoot was supposed to wrap on Monday, August 25, with Diego Borella overseeing the final scene. However, given the situation, the production has now stopped. Borella was born in Venice, Italy and worked widely with films and TV. He was earlier in Rome, New York, London, before returning to Venice. The Italian publication reported that he had recently shifted his focus to writing poetry, fairy tales, and stories for children. People working with him described him as well-respected and adaptable.

They said he was someone who could easily adapt into any role on international projects while still focusing on his own projects. Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris Season 5 will be released on December 18. The new season relocates some of the action from Paris to Italy, with filming taking place in Venice and Rome. According to The Independent, the plot revolves around Emily, played by Lily Collins, who runs Agence Grateau’s Rome branch.

It has not been confirmed who would direct the forthcoming season. The previous episodes were handled by Andrew Fleming, Erin Ehrlich, and Peter Lauer.
