This weird-looking doll was just a cute blind-box toy that quickly gained the attention of celebrities and fashionistas. This also made Wang Ning a billionaire in China’s top 10 making his fortune skyrocket in just a year! According to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List, his net wealth doubled from $7.59 billion in 2024 to $22.1 billion in June 2025. The Labubu fever was caught by Asia, Europe, and the US, with people spending a fortune on these dolls.

A Beijing auction house recently sold a human-sized version of a toothy monster figure for 1.08 million Yuan ($150,275.51), worth over ₹1.2 crores. Wang Ning also became the youngest member of the country’s wealthiest along with Zhang Yiming, CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun, founder of Nongfu Spring, Zhong Shansha, and more.

Labubu dolls are soft toys and miniatures based on characters from Hong Kong-born illustrator Kasing Lung’s book series, The Monsters. Inspired by Nordic fairy tales, the tiny elf creature gained popularity after Lisa from the K-pop girl group Blackpink was spotted with one. Following that, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and others began to flaunt the doll.
