Smriti Mandhana’s wedding celebrations suffered an unexpected halt following a medical emergency involving her father, Shriniwas Mandhana, on November 23, 2025. According to Smriti’s business manager, Tuhin Mishra, Shriniwas began feeling uneasy and complained of chest pain while having breakfast at the Mandhana farmhouse in Sangli, where wedding-related work was in full swing. Shriniwas then suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Smriti and some close family members have since then been at the hospital since then, sources say Shriniwas’ condition is now stable. According to reports, the venue’s decorations and arrangements have been taken down, and the family has asked for privacy during his recovery.
Who is Shriniwas Mandhana?
Shriniwas Mandhana has been his daughter, Smriti Mandhana’s, earliest coach and biggest supporter. When he was young, Shriniwas had played district-level cricket and even had hopes of turning pro. However, at the time, his parents were unsupportive, and he was forced to abandon his dream.

Despite this, cricket remained close to his heart. When Smriti and her brother, Shravan, showed an interest in the sport, he encouraged them wholeheartedly. He trained his children and managed Smriti’s early cricketing schedule, playing a key role in shaping her professional journey. A long-cherished dream of his finally came true when Smriti debuted for India and later went on to become one of the most celebrated batters in women’s cricket.
Professionally, Shriniwas Mandhana is a businessman who works in chemical distribution. He also owns SM-18 Café in Sangli, named after Smriti’s jersey number. The café has been a local landmark among cricket fans.
Shriniwas Mandhana’s son and Smriti’s brother, Shravan, played at the state level but changed fields and is currently working in banking. As the family navigates this emotional pause in celebrations, fans across the country are sending wishes and hoping for Shriniwas’s speedy recovery.
