The Korean pop culture industry often looks like a glamorous world, full of talented individuals who astound us on and off stage. But what happens after an idol wraps up their time as an entertainer? Former Gugudan leader, Hana (birth name: Shin Bo-ra), came up with a rather interesting reply to this recently. While answering fan questions via Instagram story, she admitted to switching careers to work as a cabin crew member in the aviation industry.
All About K-pop Idol Turned Flight Attendant Hana (Shin Bo Ra) Of Gugudan
Debuting on June 28, 2016, under Jellyfish Entertainment, Gugudan was revealed to have a “mermaid” concept. Hana led the group through their first album, Act. 1 The Little Mermaid. A product of the times, the album peaked at number 2 on the Weekly Gaon Albums Chart.
Hana continued pursuing solo activities in parallel, especially since Gugudan had no new releases after they became two years old. She sang the OST, ‘Throbbing Weather’ for the 2018 K-drama, My First Love. In 2020, when Gugudan disbanded after four years, the idol pivoted to acting, starring in two web series, My Fuxxxxx Romance and Another Peaceful Day of Second-Hand Items.
After another acting project, Save Me Oldie in 2021, she finished her contract with Jellyfish Entertainment and signed with FN Entertainment under her birth name, Shin Bo-ra. Two years later, in 2023, she changed companies and started promotions with Mue A Entertainment, using the name Shin Yeon-suh.
Apart from her albums and promotions with Gugudan, Bo-ra participated in OSTs, such as ‘Falling Down’ for the Lee Dong-wook K-drama Touch Your Heart in 2019. Her last acting role was in 2023, playing Jang Woo-ri in the web series Our D-Day.

A New Dawn For Hana
Shin Bo-ra responded to fans in an Instagram ask-me-anything session who were wondering how she ended up abroad, per her previous posts. She admitted that she had started working as a flight attendant and zooms around the world as a part of the cabin crew.
Without revealing details about the airline or when she commenced working, Gugudan’s Hana seems happy with her new job, posting images from her travels frequently.
The former K-pop idol even shared a 2016 throwback, following the current trend. It included images from her debut year in Gugudan, with the group’s ‘Diary’ as the accompanying music. An evolved queen who acknowledges her previous idol career while moving forward as a flight attendant!
