In recent events, actress Anju Krishna, who has appeared in multiple Tamil and Malayalam films, has been in the limelight after being arrested in a drug-related case in Chennai. This alleged crime was discovered after an operation by the Chennai Police’s Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit (ANIU), which resulted in the arrest of eight people, including her and Vinci Nivetha, an assistant director in Tamil films.

According to reports, Anju Krishna has appeared in the Tamil film Vellimalai and a few Malayalam films, including Aaro alongside Joju George. She is also known on television for her roles in the Flower Channel series Priyankari. Reportedly, she began her career in modelling before eventually transitioning to short films and later to feature films. Though she was born in Thrissur, Kerala, her professional career primarily focused on the business of Tamil cinema.

As per the News18 Malayalam report, the arrests happened after the police got information pointing to an alleged drug network operating in several sections of the city. This probe began with the arrest of a guy named Vigneshwaran from Nesapakkam, and the officers expanded their investigation after gathering information during the interrogation, eventually leading to a decoy operation in Valasaravakkam.

TOI reported that police investigators posed as buyers and went to an accused supplier, Venkatesh Kumar. They stopped the vehicle and detained everyone inside when he arrived at the site in a car to supply drugs. Anju Krishna was among those arrested during the operation. The detainees were identified as Anju Krishna (30), Vinci Niveda (26), Karthik Raja (31), Yashwanth (25), Sreeram (33), Alvibinsha (27), and Venkatesh Kumar (31).

During the investigation, officials seized 6 grams of methamphetamine, 7 grams of OG ganja, 15 grams of ganja, an LSD stamp, a smoking bong, and nine mobile phones.
