The House of the Dragon or the “dance” has finally witnessed the initial step of watching a civil war between the Targaryens, and we are seated. In the grand finale of season 3, we witness one of the saddest deaths till now, and that is of Helaena Targaryen, who dies due to su*cide in the final moments. Helaena Targaryen In House of the Dragon Season 3
In the past episodes, we see Helaena’s visions and discomfort get more intense after she is separated from her daughter Jaehaera in King’s Landing. The princess is in a constant spiral after her mother Alicent also leaves to kill Aemond and has stopped eating any food, despite being pregnant. But before jumping off the castle window, she leaves behind an important prediction of the crown’s future. The episode ends with Rhaenyra witnessing Helaena’s death and the tapestry on which she was seen doing embroidery throughout the season. It showed the Queen jumping into her own death and landing on spikes.
Apart from this, the scene that truly sends shockwaves is where she depicts herself the Iron Throne with blood coming out of the crown on her hand and dragon flames surrounding the background as per Variety. Talking about the unfortunate demise of her character Halaena Targaryen, Phia Saban told the outlet that it was a “tragedy.” Phia further spoke about how her character spoke about it being her body and her baby and how both of these have been “foresaken” since she was born. She reflected how Halaena didn’t want to live like that anymore and that she felt like protecting the children that she had.
