Why Taylor Swift Didn’t Attend The VMAs

Without even releasing a new album, Taylor Swift was nominated this year for Artist of the Year. The VMAs have often been the stage for the singer to share major news, but this time around, she was completely missing. Her friend and collaborator Sabrian Carpenter’s presence made it more suspicious. As quoted in Pinkvilla, a likely reason for her absence is her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and the beginning of his NFL season.

Kelce kicked off their season on September 5 in Brazil, according to Betches. Well, if the ‘Lover’ singer was supporting her fiancé there, then travelling back to the VMAs would have been very challenging. And since she was not even scheduled to promote or perform a new album, it wouldn’t have seemed worth it. And while she skipped this year, Swifties still have a lot to look forward to. She has already announced her upcoming album, Life of a Showgirl, on Travis and Jason Kelce’s football podcast.
