What Has Happened To Alka Yagnik?
Singer Alka Yagnik disclosed being diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder, also known as sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), in 2024. She stated that the condition developed after a viral attack and eventually affected her ability to hear. The singer also shared a wholesome post on social media recalling the frightening moment when she first came to know that something was wrong after walking out of a flight and not being able to hear anything. She shared that the doctors later identified this as a rare sensory neural hearing loss.
Alka Yagnik further admitted that the condition came as a surprise and caught her out of the blue. She further asked her fans and well-wishers to keep her in their prayers. For the unversed, the condition Sensorineural hearing loss happens through damage to the inner ear, making it tough for the brain to process sounds. The condition can develop due to multiple reasons, such as ageing, infections, trauma, or viral attacks. In Yagnik’s case, the doctor found out that this came through a viral infection and caused sudden hearing loss. Prompt diagnosis is especially important in such cases, as a delay can impact recovery prospects.
