Amaal Mallik Suffers From Sleep Apnea
In one of the late night stints in the Bigg Boss house, Amaal was caught repairing a machine before sleeping. Inquisitive housemates inquired about it, and that’s when he described it as a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine, which aids him in controlling his condition. Amaal had said that his respiratory problems first began when he had bronchitis and serious sinus issues. His mom, who observed his uneven breathing during sleeping, mentioned that he would simply stop breathing for seconds when sleeping. That’s when he was diagnosed with sleep apnea.
What Is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea is a condition where one continuously stops and resumes breathing while sleeping, usually without being aware. It interrupts the body’s flow of oxygen and can leave an individual feeling tired after sleeping the whole night.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA): The more prevalent type, resulting from the throat muscles relaxing and obstructing the airway.
Central Sleep Apnea (CSA): A less common form that occurs when the brain is not able to transmit proper breathing signals to the body.

Common symptoms are excessive snoring, gasping or choking during sleep, morning headache, drowsiness during the day, and lack of concentration.
CPAP has become a lifeline for Amaal. It keeps his airway open by forcing a constant flow of air into his nose and mouth during sleep. Although it is not a cure, physicians rank CPAP as one of the most effective treatments for avoiding significant dangers such as high blood pressure, heart issues, stroke, and chronic exhaustion.
