The casting news was confirmed by her agency, B.Wave Entertainment, on November 4. Seo Yea Ji will be seen playing Kim Ji Hoo, the central character in the film. Unlike regular horror stories, Geumwoldo takes inspiration from a disturbing incident mentioned in the historical records of the Joseon Dynasty. The film is set on an isolated Korean island where the people live in their own close-knit community. However, things are far from normal as strange incidents begin taking place.
Seo Yea Ji’s character gets pulled into the mystery after receiving a message from her mother. This leads her to travel to Geumwoldo, where she starts looking into the unusual events happening around her and discovers secrets about the island.
The film will be directed by Baek Dong Hoon, and it brings together horror, mystery and elements of Korean history.
