As per reports, the Garosero Research Institute used fake AI content to spread rumours which led to a national petition for the Gaseyeon Prevention Act. This law aims to stop online lies, bullying, and harm. Fans and citizens are joining forces to support the cause. Read on to know more about it.

On May 27, an online post called for support for the Gaseyeon Prevention Act. It urged better rules to stop false information and protect people’s rights online. By that evening, over 19,000 people had signed the petition on the National Assembly’s website. The goal is 50,000 signatures by June 21 to push lawmakers to act. People are done with this harmful online content, and this growing support is a proof. 

Who’s The Target?

The petition targets Garosero Research Institute, which has faced backlash for using paid trolls to start hate campaigns. These attacks damage reputations and mental health. Furthermore, the petition calls for tough investigations, legal punishments, and platform bans to hold such channels accountable. It also wants to help victims regain their dignity.

For the unversed, it all sparked majorly after Kim Soo Hyun’s dating scandal. Garosero claimed he dated actress Kim Sae Ron when she was underage. It led to major backlash against the Queen of Tears actor. Several brands cut ties with him, and his upcoming drama was also put on hold. This later turned into a legal battle as Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, GOLD MEDALIST, filed lawsuits against Garosero for defamation and harassment. Not just the actor’s agency, even his fans started a global petition to support him.
