In recent events, actor Sumona Chakravarti has been making headlines after she stated that she had undergone surgery to excise endometriosis. She had been inactive on social media since the past two months and has finally revealed what happened. For the unversed, she first opened up about her Stage IV endometriosis diagnosis in 2021. Sumona Chakravarti Undergoes Endometriosis Surgery
Taking to her Instagram, Sumona Chakravarti shared a long and emotional note on social media about her absence. She revealed that she had undergone a surgery to excise her endometriosis which progressed despite years of managing it. The actor stated that the last two months of her life went into healing both physically and mentally and revealed that she was doing well now. Amid this, Sumona also said that though she wanted to be on WhatsApp and Instagram, it wasn’t a “practical choice.” She further wrote how she wanted to change her relationship with social media which was initially all about chasing likes and fighters. She now wants to create a safe space to talk about health, travel, books, plants, and much more.
For the unversed, endometriosis surgery is a procedure to excise or destroy tissue which is similar to the limbs of the uterus that grows outside the uterus. This can cause pelvic pain, lead to painful s*x, painful periods, and in many cases, cause fertility issues. This surgery is done to relieve these symptoms and improve one’s quality of life, especially after medicines stop working. We hope Sumona recovers well and is happy and healthy.
