Actor Vijay Varma and creator Dolly Singh have been making headlines ever since the latter called the former a “red flag” on stage. During the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFM) 2026, Varma, who had won the Best Performance award for his role in Matka King, went on stage when the influencer called him the “nation’s biggest red flag.” Read to know more about what happened here.
About Vijay Varma, Dolly Singh
After congratulating Vijay Varma for his big win, Dolly Singh went on to speak about his reputation for playing intense and morally corrupt characters. She highlighted that his entry into a show makes the audience wonder who is in trouble and what he might do next. She went on to talk about the actor’s on-screen image and cheekily labelled him as the “nation’s biggest red flag.” To this, Vijay responded by asking Singh to buy a piece of red cloth and bring it home to make as many “red flags” as she wanted. Dolly quickly hit back by calling his response “lame.” After which the Matka King actor delivered another punchline, stating that he would let go of her terrible compliments. Many users watched this clip and said that it was “Awkward” and “uncomfortable” to watch.
It is important to note that neither actor has yet responded to this controversy. On the work front, Vijay Varma recently earned praise for his role in the crime-drama named Matka King directed by Nagraj Manjule. It was set in Mumbai’s matka gambling network during the 1960s and 1970s, and featured him as Brij Bhatt, a man building a gambling empire despite challenges. Meanwhile, Dolly Singh is a famous content creator who was seen in Thank You For Coming besides Bhumi Pednekar.
