It’s funny how you learn about some film trivia so late. Recently, the internet has discovered an old video of Sandeep Reddy Vanga in which he revealed the first choice for his very controversial film Kabir Singh. And well, it was not Shahid Kapoor, but the Dhurandhar star Ranveer Singh. However, the actor had rejected the film, and Vanga also revealed why. Read here to know more about it.
What Had Sandeep Reddy Vanga Revealed!
This old video of the director talking about Kabir Singh’s casting is going around on social media. This was during an interview with iDream Media in which Vanga spoke at length about his Bollywood directorial debut. He revealed that the film was pitched to Ranveer Singh, and he too wanted to the film with him. However, the Dhurandhar actor rejected the film on grounds that it was ‘too dark’ for him during that time. Vanga further added that many people were concerned about Shahid Kapoor’s box-office track record; however, the director also believed in him and knew that he was a good actor.
On the other hand, he had also hailed Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar for being a fierce film. From direction to screenplay and music, the director praised every aspect of the film.
Well, Kabir Singh went on to do great at the box office. It also featured Kiara Advani. However, the film was bashed for glorifying toxic masculinity.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh recently featured in Dhurandhar which had a star cast of Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan. The film’s second is releasing in March.
