Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has responded to serious claims made by actress Tanushree Dutta about her unpleasant experience while working with him on the 2005 film Chocolate. Tanushree had earlier alleged that Agnihotri had behaved rudely with her on set and made her feel uncomfortable due to how he handled costume-related matters during the shoot.
What Did Vivek Agnihotri Say About Tanushree Dutta?
Now, in a recent podcast conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Vivek Agnihotri addressed the controversy, though without naming Tanushree directly. He said that people in the film industry often feel a lot of pressure to succeed, and when things don’t go their way, it can lead to frustration. He suggested that those not doing well in their careers may say things out of stress or emotional turmoil. Agnihotri added that he chooses not to take such accusations seriously and prefers to forgive and not get involved in such issues.
What did Tanushree Dutta Say?
In an old interview, Tanushree said she was once five minutes late to the set, and Agnihotri publicly scolded her, calling her unprofessional. She also recalled arriving on set early on several occasions when nothing was even ready to film. Despite that, on one particular day when she was slightly late, she felt targeted.
Tanushree also claimed that Agnihotri made her sit in revealing costumes for long periods between shots. Even when she tried to cover up with a robe, she said he insisted she remove it, saying that a shot was coming up. She described the experience as uncomfortable and said that actors should be allowed to rest between scenes, especially when wearing such outfits.

On the workfront, Tanushree Dutta has remained out of the limelight, while Vivek Agnihotri continues to focus on his filmmaking. After the success of The Kashmir Files, he is now working on The Bengal Files, which is expected to release in theatres on September 5, 2025. For the unversed, the movie was previously titled Delhi Files.
