The queen of the classic whodunit trope has written over 60 mystery murder novels, most of which remain the favourites of many across the world. In what comes as good news for Agatha Christie Fans, her novel, The Sittaford Mystery, has been adapted into Hindi! The adaptation is titled Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley, and is helmed by ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj. Here are more details about this project.

Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley will mark Vishal Bhardwaj’s OTT directorial debut. The official premise of the series says that the storyline follows the journey of Charlie Chopra in the snow-clad mountains of Himachal Pradesh. Apart from being the director, Bhardwaj will also be the co-producer and co-writer of the show.
The project has gone floors, as SonyLiv took to their official Instagram handle to announce this news! A picture of the clapboard held against a snowy backdrop with the series’ name written on it was shared on the social media page.

What had our attention was the ensemble cast of Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley. Big and versatile stars like Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah, Lara Dutta, Paali Dam, Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Gulshan Grover, and Chandan Roy Sanyal among others have been taken aboard this project. The cast is definitely a mixed bag of some of the best actors in the industry, which has increased our excitement about this series tenfold.

Talking about his excitement to adapt one of Agatha Christie’s novels, Vishal Bhardwaj said that he grew up reading her books and the characters in her book, the plot, and the setting remain ‘unparalleled’. He also said that the journey of collaborating with James Prichard, the great-grandson of Agatha, has been ‘incredible’.

Given it is a Vishal Bhardwaj directorial, who has Omkara, Kaminey and Haider to his name, we can let out a sigh of relief that the series will be good. We’re awaiting more deets on the release date of the series.
