It isn’t new for celebrities to land in trouble every day and this time looks like it is cricketer Virat Kohli’s turn. This time, it isn’t related to his wife/actress Anushka Sharma or to liking a random picture on Instagram, but to his very own restaurant chain One8 Commune. Yes! According to the latest reports, Kohli’s Bengaluru-based restaurant has fallen into legal trouble, Cubbon Park Police filed a suo motu case against the restaurant. Well, the case has been filed for violating the COTPA Act, citing the absence of a designated smoking area within the premises.
Filing the case for the second time, the civic body has yet another target the Bangalore-based branch of the popular restaurant chain for violating smoking rules. Located near the Chinnaswamy stadium in the city, the restaurant was under the radar for operating without mandated fire safety measures, technically without obtaining a fire department clearance certificate. However, the legal team of Kohli’s restaurant failed to respond to the 7-day deadline given by the civic body for an explanation.
Furthermore, the Bengaluru Police also registered an FIR against the club/restaurant and others in the same area for operating beyond the designated time of 1 am, during June last year. The action was taken after several complaints were filed against the restaurant for not only running beyond the designated time but also for playing loud music, and disturbing residents in the nearby locality. Currently, the restaurant is in the news for not having a designated smoking zone area. Let’s see how the legal team works through this case. However, there has not been any official message from Virat Kohli or the restaurant team’s side.
