On Saturday, April 20, Urvashi Rautela’s team released an official statement saying, “Urvashi Rautela said that there is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand, not Urvashi Rautela’s temple. Now people don’t even listen to things properly; just hearing ‘Urvashi’ or ‘temple,’ they assumed that people worship Urvashi Rautela. The Controversy
Earlier in an interview with Siddharth Kanan, the actress claimed that she had a temple in Uttarakhand, next to the Badrinath temple. When the host asked if people went to there to seek blessings, she laughed and said that since it was a temple, this was what they would do. Priests and residents, who revere the holy place, were not amused by the actress’s audacious remark, though, and several demanded that the government punish her for offending religious feelings.
The Goddess Sati, one of the 108 Shaktipeeths and a highly respected character in Hindu mythology, is linked to the Urvashi Temple. Legend has it that the temple appeared where the body of Goddess Sati fell.
