Urmila Matondkar Makes A Sarcastic Comment On Nepotism, Says Never Received Awards For Film Satya

Nepotism in Bollywood has always been a topic of debate among the public. Over the years, many celebs have come forward to speak their minds on it. Some do it in a subtle way whereas others are outspoken about the topic. Recently, on the 25th anniversary of her film Satya’s release, veteran actress Urmila Matondkar used some sharp words to talk about the topic of nepotism and favouritism in the film industry. Urmila Matondkar uses herself as an example of someone who has faced the negative consequences of these aspects in the industry.

On July 3, the Ram Gopal Verma directorial Satya completed 25 years. The film featured Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, J.D Chakravarth and others in the leading roles. The film shed light on the crimes in the country and the gangster world. It went on to win many Filmfare awards and even a National award. However, as the superhit film completes 25 years, the lead actress Urmila Matondkar has expressed her utter disappointment in not getting any recognition for the role.

She took to her micro-blogging site to express her feelings about the film. In fact, the actress used the occasion as an opportunity to talk about the topic of favouritism and nepotism. Urmila Matondkar wrote that she played the role of a simple chawl girl in Satya during the peak of her glamorous career. The actress sarcastically remarked that “Acting” had nothing to do with it because eventually her work was never recognised with any awards or nominations. Urmila Matondkar took a strong dig at nepotism and favouritism by sharing her feelings.
