As 2024 nears its end, controversies around unconventional marketing strategies continue to dominate headlines. The latest involves Uorfi Javed, known for her bold public persona, who publicly accused an oral hygiene brand of inappropriate behaviour regarding a proposed ad campaign. The controversy began when Uorfi shared screenshots on her social media, exposing an email from the brand’s team. The message allegedly asked if she would agree to strip as part of their campaign concept.

Disturbed by the overtly invasive request, she expressed her outrage online and promised to take action against the brand for crossing professional boundaries. Adding to her frustrations, a separate exchange with a representative from the brand included unclear and dismissive responses when she sought clarification about the term strip. This further fueled her concerns and led her to call out the brand for their unprofessionalism. Her posts quickly garnered attention, sparking debates about the ethics of modern advertising and the boundaries that brands should respect.
Responding to the backlash, the oral hygiene brand released a statement on their social media channels, addressing the allegations. While they did not directly deny the claims, they expressed shock at the turn of events and maintained that their intentions were misinterpreted. They stated that their goal was to collaborate respectfully and that they would present their side of the story soon. The brand also highlighted its three-year journey of building an ethical image and denied accusations of orchestrating the incident as a marketing stunt.
