Was Uorfi Javed Really Removed From Islam And Renamed Geeta Bhardwaj?
In an interview with IANS, the internet sensation called the claims fake and laughed them off. She said that she had stopped following any religion long ago on her own choice and questioned how anyone could remove her from Islam when she no longer belonged to it. On being asked about her new name, Geeta Bhardwaj, Uorfi Javed stated that no such thing was real or official. She added that she is an atheist who follows no religion at all and pointed out the fact that you cannot throw someone out of a group they never were a part of in the first place.
What Exactly Happened?
It all began when Faizan Ansari uploaded a video on his social media. In the video, he spoke to his followers and said Uorfi Javed was damaging the image of Muslims not just in India but around the world. He stated that the internet sensation openly said she did not believe in the Quran or Islam. He called her actions bad and said many Muslims felt angry because of her.

Then he announced that Muslims had decided to cut all links with her. Faizan Ansari said he wrote a letter to a Maulana, who he called the head of the All India Muslim community. He did not ask anyone before doing this and declared that from now on Uorfi Javed had no connection to the Muslim community. Faizan Ansari gave her the new name Geeta Bhardwaj and told everyone to use only that name. He said he would share the letter as proof on X (Formerly Twitter) and asked people to spread it everywhere.
