The last few weeks have been rather heartbreaking for India, especially for Indian women. The rapists of Bilkis Bano were released around the time the country was celebrating 75 years of Independence. And they weren’t just released, their release was celebrated by those around them. Videos of these rape convicts being fed sweets and being made to wear garlands were shared on the internet and it was heartbreaking to see that. How are women expected to feel safe in a country where rape convicts are celebrated? What’s worse is that rape accused are getting bail only for women to feel unsafe! Recently, Uorfi Javed took to social media to shared that she feels unsafe and has lost faith in the system after a man who allegedly harassed her for years and threatened her with “cyber rape” was released on bail.
Taking to Instagram, Uorfi Javed shared a picture of a man and wrote that this man who threatened to kill her and cyber rape her is out on bail and she feels unsafe and has lost all faith in the system. “No place safe for women,” said the actress. She went on to add that being a public figure if she has to go through this, she cannot even imagine what normal girls go through. She further shared multiple video stories where she was heard stating that women’s safety in India is a joke and no one cares about women as anyone can molest and blackmail a woman and then get out on bail. She also shared screenshots of chats between her and an unnamed person where the latter is trying to intimidate Uorfi.
Who Is The Man In The Picture Shared By Uorfi Javed?
Earlier last week the man in the picture, Obed Afridi was arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with a complaint filed by Uorfi Javed. The actress had accused him of threatening her on Whatsapp and harassing her for years. In a post last week, Uorfi had shared that Obed has been harassing her for years and now she’s had enough. She revealed that 2 years ago someone morphed her picture and started distributing it and she had filed a police complaint regarding the same back then but she still went through hell. The actress claimed that Obed managed to get his hands on those pictures and began blackmailing her to have “video sex” with him or he would share the picture with the media and ruin her life and career. She also accused him of blackmailing her with cyber rape.

Well, TBH rape isn’t about sex, it’s about power and such power-hungry people should not be out in the open. Did we not come across a case recently where the rape accused raped the survivor while he was out on bail? Do we really need more cases like that?
