Uorfi Javed Calls Out ‘Bigg Boss 16’ For Featuring Sajid Khan And “Supporting Sexual Predators”. We’re Nodding Our Heads In Agreement!

We’ve all been a little pissed (psst…little might be an understatement) with the makers of Bigg Boss and Colorstv ever since we found out about Sajid Khan being a part of the newest season of the reality show. And why wouldn’t we be? A man accused of sexually harassing and molesting several women has been given a platform to clear his image and portray whatever he wants and all this without even addressing the accusations made against him. Not only is filmmaker Sajid Khan in Bigg Boss 16 house but he’s also receiving support from actresses like Kashmera Shah and Shehnaaz Gill. What’s worse is that none of the contestants have expressed any concerns about sharing a house with a #MeToo accused or addressed the elephant in the room. But recently, singer Sona Mohapatra slammed Colorstv and the makers of Bigg Boss for inviting Sajid Khan on the show and now, Uorfi Javed has fired at them for “supporting sexual predators”.

Taking to Instagram stories earlier today, former Bigg Boss OTT contestant Uorfi Javed called out Bigg Boss 16 for “working with a sexual predator”. Sharing an Instagram post listing accusations against Sajid Khan, Uorfi questioned why is Bigg Boss working with a sexual predator and by doing so, they’re supporting the filmmaker. “You’re actually telling them that it’s okay what they’ve done. These men need to know this behaviour is not okay and they cannot get away with it.” Urging them to not work with sexual predators, Uorfi said that it’s not controversial but just plain disgraceful. We’re nodding our heads in agreement. Speaking further, the actress pointed out that Sajid never apologised for his actions and went on to question how the women he preyed on must be feeling.

In a series of Instagram stories, Uorfi shared that even though she did not get an offer from Bigg Boss this year but she wouldn’t have taken it even if she had and questioned how watching him on television and in the news daily could trigger the women he harassed. Uorfi Javed also called out Shehnaaz Gill for praising Sajid Khan. Sharing a video of Shehnaaz Gill congratulating Sajid and wishing him luck, Uorfi pointed out that people are making him a hero when in fact he has hurt several women. She further added that if Kashmera and Shehnaaz can support Sajid then she too can criticise him and them as well.

For the unversed, several allegations of sexual harassment were levelled against filmmaker Sajid Khan during the #MeToo movement in 2018 in India. This included several actresses including Saloni Chopra, Sherlyn Chopra, Aahana Kumra, Mandana Karimi, Rachel White, Marina Kuwar and Dimple Paula. Jiah Khan’s sister Karishma Khan had also accused Sajid of harassing the actress before her death. Soon after, the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association banned the filmmaker from directing films for a year over the allegations. And TBH, he just got away with a slap on the wrist for all the women he harassed. We agree with Uorfi on this one. This world does not need more men like Sajid Khan on television.

I’m not even a sexual harassment survivor and yet I feel triggered by Sajid and I cannot even imagine what the women he harassed must be going through. It’s shameful that Colorstv is giving a #MeToo accused an opportunity to revamp his image and give his career a push. And the cold truth is that this isn’t one odd accusation. This is several women from within the industry calling him out and imagine if 9 spoke up, how many others are there who haven’t? These women who spoke up still had an edge over him and are privileged women but what about all the less privileged women who did odd jobs or internships under this sexual predator?
