Generative AI has been taking over all aspects of our lives. It is being used in films, music production, and fan content. K-pop companies are also using AI-based tools and other initiatives in their content, including HYBE. However, the use of AI has also generated a debate regarding authenticity and ethics. TXT’s Beomgyu Opens Up About His Thoughts On Growing AI Usage In The Industry

In a recent surprise joint live broadcast on Weverse, TXT’s Beomgyu and ENHYPEN’s Heeseung thrilled fans of the two groups. However, after talking about some lighthearted topics, TXT’s Beomgyu steered the conversation to something serious: the use of generative AI. Beomgyu opened up about his discomfort with AI-generated art and content.
Beomgyu explained that he understands the benefits of using AI and how it can help in assisting creative work; however, he finds it unnerving how advanced AI-generated visuals and music are getting to the point where they can be mistaken for actual human-made works of art. The 24-year-old singer explained how much emotion, passion, and years of practice an artist puts into their craft. He then suggested that AI-generated content should be clearly labelled so that viewers are not inadvertently misled. ENHYPEN’s Heeseung nodded while agreeing with Beomgyu’s opinion.

Beomgyu and Heeseung’s remarks coincide with the mounting criticism from fans over the overuse of AI in concept art, music covers, and fan edits in the K-pop industry. The two stars are receiving a lot of praise from fans for voicing their honest thoughts and exposing issues that seem to be becoming more serious every passing day.
