TWICE Receives Backlash For Their Victoria’s Secret Performance, Tzuyu Apologises To Fans
Following TWICE’s red carpet appearance, the girls performed two of their beloved hits at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. However, the reaction was not as anticipated. Many viewers felt that their vocals were lacklustre and the girls sounded out of breath. Many non-K-pop viewers who were watching the show said that they felt distracted by the poor vocals and could not focus on the models walking the runway.
Popular model Quen Blackwell made her Victoria’s Secret runway debut this year, and people were very excited to witness the moment. However, many complained that TWICE’s poor performance distracted them from focusing on Quen.
Following the backlash, TWICE’s Tzuyu took to Bubble (a Korean fan messaging platform) to address the backlash and explain herself. In the messages, she revealed that she was actually sick and had lost her voice because of that.
TWICE Tzuyu’s message read, “Before coming to New York, I practised well with my vocal coach, but after arriving in New York, my throat started getting worse and worse… During rehearsal, I could still make sounds, but it got much worse during the main performance, and my throat was completely hoarse, so I couldn’t make any sound at all”
She went on to apologise to her fans about the performance. Response to her apology has been well-received by many fans; however, internet users are still criticising the group and questioning whether they deserved to perform at the event.
