Another day, another social media debate taking place in the K-pop world. TWICE recently dropped their new album, THIS IS FOR, and have been busy with interviews and promotional activities. While many ARMYs appreciated her comments, other internet users reacted negatively. Read on to know more about it.

During an interview with Forbes, Tzuyu of TWICE acknowledged BTS for their contribution to K-pop’s global domination. She stated that many K-pop artists have worked incredibly hard to bring the genre into the spotlight and that BTS played a key role in this effort. This comment was well-received by ARMYs. One fan wrote, “They are one of the very few artists who always acknowledged the efforts and contributions of BTS without any ego.

Another fan wrote, “Many are criticising her for saying this after TWICE released new music, but her comment wasn’t about that. TWICE has always shown respect to BTS—not just as artists, but as people. They said the same in 2019 and still believe it. She showed respect, and that’s what matters.”

However, a section of K-pop fans didn’t seem happy and criticised Tzuyu and accused her of seeking attention. One user commented that such name-dropping was a strategy when one’s own work wasn’t gaining attention.

Another user questioned why Tzuyu specifically mentioned BTS and added that she should have mentioned other prominent girl groups who also made significant contributions to the industry. According to the user, using BTS’s name was merely a way to boost TWICE’s reputation.
