‘Trial By Fire’ Trailer: Abhay, Rajshri’s Fight For Justice Looks Heart-Wrenching

The Uphaar fire incident that took place in 1997 in New Delhi goes down in Indian history as one of the most tragic incidents. The fire that started in the Uphaar cinema hall left 59 people dead and hundreds injured. Trial By Fire, a Netflix series based on this incident, is made to show the audience the struggle of the families who lost their near and dear ones in this mishap. The series stars Abhay Deol, Rajshri Deshpande, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Rajesh Tailang, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj in prominent roles. The two-minute video shows a happy family of four – Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy and their two children who bid their parents goodbye as they go to watch a movie at Uphaar theatre. But nobody would have thought that Neelam and Shekhar were seeing their children for the last time. Both their children pass away in the fire, leaving Neelam and Shekhar grieving for their children and fighting to seek justice.

Abhay Deol looks promising in the role of Shekhar as it shows him in a very different light. This is a very serious role of a grieving father, something that he has not done so far. Rajshri Deshpande, as a grief-stricken Neelam, will make your heart reach out to her, to comfort her. Despite their huge and irreplaceable loss, they are determined to get justice for their children and make the ones responsible for this incident pay.

Of course, their fight is not an easy one. With bureaucracy and political pressure, they find it hard to keep going but they do not stop. In the trailer, it is also mentioned that Neelam and Shekhar fought for 18 years to seek answers and justice not just for their own children but for all those who died in the Uphaar theatre fire.
We are looking forward to seeing how this tragic story is told with Abhay and Rajshri having us anticipating their performances already.
