Tillotama Shome On Female Desires And Pleasure
During the interview, host Siddhaarth Aalambayan asked how women could express their needs and desires and how much fun she had while portraying those scenes. The Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper actor stated, “When I read the script, I was blown away because it’s been a long time since a woman’s desire was expressed with such sensitivity. And women have so much agency—all of us, not just that one character. Besides the characters I play, you have Ashok Lata by Naina, Shobha played by Shweta, and my Mando Bua, who’s 70, played by Yamini. Even her desires are addressed without any kind of nonsense.”
Tillotama Shome further added, “The reason these things become taboo is because we’re trying to call them something else.” Moreover, she raised the question, “Why do women, other than young and conventionally stereotypical-looking women, think the rest of us can’t have any desires?” She further added, “Because we are not flesh and blood.” Furthermore, she talked about how people consider female desires and pleasures obscene, and when a man does it, he’s considered a hero! There’s so much vulnerability with desires, like, have I made you happy? Are you satisfied? What if I didn’t do it properly? You can give out so much insecurity, joy, and confidence. So, it’s the way you talk about it and grew up listening to it, said the actor.
