THIS Promise Of Shah Rukh Khan To Wife Gauri Khan Cost Him Crores
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat has become a pilgrim site for his fans. But did you know this story?

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s luxurious Mumbai house, Mannat, has become a landmark throughout the world. People come from all over the globe to take a picture in front of the mansion because it feels like taking a picture with the star himself. But did you know, before it became a symbol of his success, Mannat was simply a dream and a promise that Khan made to his wife, Gauri Khan, during the early days of their marriage.
About Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat
While Shah Rukh Khan was on his way to stardom in the late 90s, he would often take walks with Gauri Khan along the Bandstand. During one such dreamy stroll, he stood in front of a grand villa, which was then owned by Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust, and fell in love with it. With dreams in his eyes, he made a promise to Gauri that he would own it one day.
Years later, while filming his iconic song ‘Chaand Taare’ from Yes Boss near the property, his dream began to take shape. He faced numerous hurdles, including complicated legal procedures and issues with adjoining properties. Despite these challenges, Shah Rukh persisted and, in 2001, purchased the villa, which he eventually renamed Mannat. Aziz Mirza, the director, recalled near Cafe Seaside when Khan pointed towards the mansion and said that he bought it.

The finalised purchase that Shah Rukh made was for Rs 13.01 Crores. Initially, the duo named their house ‘Jannat’, meaning paradise, which was later changed to ‘Mannat’ in 2005, meaning a heartfelt wish or a blessing. Today, the mansion stands as a symbol of the actor’s success and determination. It is estimated to be around 200 Crores now.
Difficulties Of Making Mannat
The journey to making Mannat a home was filled with roadblocks. Shah Rukh and Gauri poured all of their savings into decorating the place. During an interview at the launch event of Gauri’s book, My Life In Design, Khan jokingly mentioned that though they had managed to buy the place, they had to rebuild it because it was broken. They didn’t have the money to furnish it, leading to him asking his wife to become the designer of their home.
