HBO’s The White Lotus creates buzz with its sharp social commentary and stellar casting choices. But while we thought that the starring actors would be bringing handsome paychecks home due to the popularity, it’s actually the opposite. The actors on the show are compensated modestly in comparison to the industry standards, getting around $40,000 per episode. Read to know more about it.
How Much Do The White Lotus Stars Make?
In a recent conversation with Vulture, Jason Isaacs confirmed their total pay per episode was $40,000 per episode, making it around $320,000 each for the whole series. “Generally, actors don’t talk about pay in public because it’s ridiculously disproportionate to what we do — putting on makeup and funny voices — and just upsets the public,” he said while acknowledging this was low when compared to television standards.
He notoriously added that they would have paid to star in it, going as far as to offer a body part for the role! The White Lotus has maintained a standard of $320,000 for the 8-episode series. This is standard for seasoned veterans, along with emerging talents. In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Producer David Bernad explained that this approach was taken during the first season.
The idea was to create a collaborative atmosphere in which participants were driven by the project’s creative potential rather than financial incentives. According to him, this made the process easier. While some say no, the series regulars are there for the scale and not for monetary values.
