The newest Netflix show, Dining With The Kapoors, has created havoc on Instagram with its stellar cast of the oldest family in Bollywood. The show featured generations from the family, including Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Randhir Kapoor, to Navya Nanda. They all come in for an intimate, laughter-filled family lunch that celebrates their legacy as well as the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor. Now, we finally get to know why their favourite bahu, Alia Bhatt, wasn’t present!

Since the release of its trailer, fans have been constantly asking about the whereabouts of Alia Bhatt from the famous show. And now, during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, producer Armaan Jain has finally revealed what the mystery is. He said, “She had prior commitments to shoot. I might sound filmy, but like Raj Kapoor said, ‘work is worship.'”
Director Smriti Mundhra shared Armaan’s view and highlighted how dedicated the family is to their work. She noted that they’re all deeply committed to their craft and naturally operate like workaholics. While they do try to gather and prioritise time together, it’s common for one or two members to miss out because of professional commitments, something the family fully understands and accepts.
Armaan mentioned that clashes like this are routine in a family made up of actors and filmmakers, noting that it happens during almost every gathering, whether it’s Christmas, Diwali, or any other occasion. Even though Alia Bhatt couldn’t make it to the shoot, she has been fully supportive of the series and has promoted it on her Instagram stories.
