TMF: Saiyami Kher Hadn’t Watched Films Till She Was 13, Here’s Why
We did not see this coming!

As a kid, I remember coming home from school only to watch some old Bollywood movie playing on television as I had my lunch with my mom and dad (if he was home from work). So, I kind of grew up with the idea that everyone watches films. But as an adult, I’ve now met millennials who do not get any of the Salmaan Khan references or even the Vivaah references. And guess what? Some of our favourite celebs have also grown up not watching films. Kinda hard to believe na? Well, in a candid chat with Hauterrfly’s very own The Male Feminist, actress Saiyami Kher opened up about her childhood and upbringing. During the interview, the actress revealed that she did not watch her first film until she was about 15-16 years old.
Speaking to Siddhaarth Aalambayan, the host of The Male Feminist, Saiyami Kher shared that while she had a rather chilled-out and “bindaas” upbringing, her parents also tried to instil some strong values in her and her sister. The actress shared that the one thing her father was very strict about was the rule that barred her from watching films. “I wasn’t allowed to watch films till I was 13 years old. This was the one thing my father was very strict about. He did not want us watching films and instead wanted us to live our lives and watch films after we were 13 years old. I started watching films probably when I was 15-16 years old.”
