People across the world have a very distorted perspective or rather a very distorted understanding of what feminism is and that’s also why we often hear people saying that they don’t believe in feminism and instead believe in equality. But TBH, isn’t feminism the same thing? As feminists, we’re also asking for equal rights and opportunities and everything else that men get and we don’t. Perhaps hearing it from a celeb might help some of you truly understand what feminism is and how men can be better feminist allies. Speaking to Siddhaarth Aalambayan in episode 13 of The Male Feminist, Chhatriwali actress Rakul Preet Singh shared how men can support women in their battle for equal rights and also explained what true feminism is.

When asked how men can be better feminist allies, Rakul Preet Singh said that men should begin by co-existing while remembering that they’re not superior to women because no gender is superior to the other. She went on to add that men should remember that they’re in the world because a woman decided to bring them into the world. “They can be feminist allies just by co-existing and by not believing that they’re superior because nobody is superior. A man should always remember that he came into this world because of a woman. So, if she decided ‘tu nahi aayega’ toh tu nahi aata. So, I think always value your woman whether it’s your mother, your sister, your daughter or your partner. I think a feminist is somebody who always advocates equality and again equality doesn’t mean male bashing,” said the Chhatriwali actress.
