I think that the more I hang out on the internet, the more I realise how utterly unnecessary it is to give your opinion on everything. To be fair, most people on the internet don’t have much to add to any pre-existing conversation. Most people choose to blow unnecessary things out of proportion and make a big deal out of stuff that doesn’t require attention. One such incident was when Neha Dhupia was memed for saying “it’s her choice” in 2020 on the show Roadies. She has now spoken about the whole controversy on The Male Feminist where she spoke about how her words were misunderstood and blown out of proportion.

While talking to our very own The Male Feminist host Siddhaarth Alambayan on episode 4, actress and model Neha Dhupia spoke about her saying “it’s her choice” to a girl cheating on her boyfriend on Roadies was blown out of proportion. Neha spoke to Siddhaarth about this and said that when she said that it was her choice, she meant in the context of cheating. She was trying to say that between the two evils: cheating and hitting, she was trying to tell the man that nothing gave the man the right to hit the girl. And that cheating was a choice she made.

For the unversed, this is from when Neha Dhupia was a judge on Roadies and a contestant named Karan spoke about hot he slapped his girlfriend for cheating on him with 5 other men. After he proclaimed the same haughtily, Neha went off at him and told him that he had no right to hit her. I believe that she meant that the girl was not his property and made her choices. While they aren’t morally the most ideal choice, nothing warrants hitting someone like this. And while Neha was unnecessarily mocked for her statement, I don’t believe she said or did anything wrong.
