Sadly, every woman in this world has been touched inappropriately at least once in her life. It has become so common and normalised that it’s extremely concerning. Talking about it was actor Parvathy Thiruvothu in an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan. She shared a painful memory from her younger days that tells how frequent these incidents are and how society often fails to deliver justice to victims. Read on!

The actor opened up about an incident when she was around 19 or 20 years old. “There was this guy standing behind me who was pressing himself against me and I could feel his member on me. As soon as we came out and just watched a movie and coming out with a friend and I came out and I started slapping him. I was like what did you do?’ Security came. A CCTV camera was not installed in that mall for whatever reason.”

She further called police and they told her to stop slapping him. “That’s when I realised, what exactly does ‘justice’ mean in this country? and finally he fell on my feet and said that I just got a job in the Gulf and I’m getting married and I was like okay. This is all going to happen and you had to do this? You couldn’t hold back your lust or your carnal desires when you were in the lift. I remember that and I remember everybody just telling me to just slap and when I did slap they all said well done, well done.'” ‘I’m like, you know, it doesn’t feel like an achievement that I’m having to protect myself; it is not something that you can pat me on the back for, and I’ll feel like I’m powerful.'”
