The King Of Kings Surpasses Parasite To Become Top-Grossing Korean Film In The US!

Korean animated film The King Of Kings, by Mofac Studio, has surpassed Bong Joon Ho’s popular film Parasite to become Korea’s highest-grossing film in the United States. According to the studio, the film made a cumulative sum of $54.51 million, surpassing Parasite, which recorded a total of $53.84 million. With this massive achievement, the film has broken all the records in the US!

The King Of Kings Surpasses Parasite

Produced by Korean animation studio Mofac Studios, the film is written and directed by their CEO, Jang Seong-ho. It is based on Charles Dickens’ book called ‘The Life of Our Lord,’ and follows the life of Jesus Christ from his birth to resurrection. The film reached its box office milestone in just three weeks after its release on April 11 in the US, hitting the big screens just days ahead of Good Friday and Easter holidays.

Pierce Brosnan, Oscar Isaac, Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, and Forest Whitaker provide the film’s English-language voices. The King of Kings has also launched in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, and the Philippines, among others, with theatrical releases scheduled for Spain and South Korea this summer.

Writer-director Jang is one of South Korea’s best visual effects experts, having worked on successful films such as Joint Security Area, Last Knights, and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. The film is expected to be released in Korea this summer.
