Early Cannes Reviews Of The Idol Calls Johnny Depp’s Daughter Lily-Rose, The Weeknd Series “Pornhub-Odyssey”
Not a good start!

Movies and shows have always been creative mediums to speak about the darker realities that exist in this world. The space is used to bring forth stories, incidents and cases lesser known to the people. The famous singer The Weeknd is all set to bring a similar story from his experience with the American series, The Idol that recently premiered at Cannes. It also stars actor Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp in the leading role. And the early Cannes reviews of the show are out on Twitter.

The Idol is a co-creation of The Weeknd along with Sam Levison and Reza Fahim. The series is based on the dark realities of the music world, in which a pop singer played by Lily-Rose Depp takes the support of a self-help guru (played by The Weeknd) to re-establish herself as the most successful artist. The Idol will also deal with the cult culture and the music in the series has been created by The Weeknd. Many people have shared their reviews of The Idol on Twitter after its screening at Cannes and it looks like the majority of them are quite disappointed with how the show has turned out to be. After The Idol premiered at Cannes this year, many critics put out their early reviews of the show per which, The Idol has glorified aspects of sexual assault.
#TheIdol is the worst pilot I’ve ever seen! We were disgusted and disappointed to have been sitting in the audience watching it! HBO should seriously consider taking it off its roster and firing Sam Levinson! (He stinks too, I walked past him as he sobbed over revenge porn) pic.twitter.com/XV4NlLx0Ey

Yeah, THE IDOL has the EUPHORIA vibes you might expect but it’s really more like somebody put BLACK SWAN, SUCCESSION, and SECRETARY in a blender and let it rip. Prepare yourself for quite the discourse… #cannes

“The Idol,” or 50 SHADES OF TESFAYE: A Pornhub-homepage odyssey starring Lily Rose Depp’s areolas and The Weeknd’s greasy rat tail. Love that this will help launch the HBO Max rebrand, should slot nicely next to House Hunters!

Seeing the early reviews for The Idol from Cannes and I’m kinda scared. If what I’m reading is true, how is HBO comfortable with airing this to a mass audience

Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd’s The Idol premiered at Cannes Film Festival. Famous K-pop Blackpink’s Jennie is also a part of the show and attended the Cannes screening. The first two episodes of the HBO series were shown during the screening and the team also received a standing ovation. However, the early reviews for it have not turned out to be favourable and more will only be known on June 4 when the series is released.
A round of applause for our Actress Jennie during the standing ovation to the casts of 'The Idol' at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 ❤️
